Chris Krucker and Denise Trigatti (top left) purchased an adjacent plot of land in 2012 to expand their farm, but instead of cutting down the black walnut tree on the property, they planted more. In total, they added more than 1,000 indigenous species of trees, including oak, maple and birch trees and planted their vegetables and fruit among them.
